Oklahoma Earthquake

I experienced my first earthquake today in tulsa.
a 4.3 in the OKC area around 9:00 this morning.
Its a very confusing feeling, probably since it was my first.

I did not know there was a decent fault in OK.  I have felt a few out here.  Best for me was the Coalinga quake.

I'm closer to the epicenter than Tulsa.  My recliner kind of rolled and teetered... thought it was going to tip over, and then that was followed by rippling and rumbling.  All the pictures on our walls were crooked afterward, and a short section of baseboard popped off.  One of my friends says there is a crack the length of her bedroom ceiling and she can see daylight out the last 4" of it.... but she is closer to the epicenter than I am, even.

I once worked in an office in LA where everybody else was from out of state.  We had a little 4.5 roller one day, and I came out of my cubicle to find everybody under their desks.  They had never experienced an earthquake, and they thought it was the Big One.  They were rather disconcerted to learn we have those on a regular basis.

Years from now we will be talking about the Great Quake of 2010....lol

I do not think I have ever read anything historical about any quakes in the Tulsa area.  However the area around OK City has been very active this year.  Yellowstone and Mammoth have been really sort of ho hum boring as of late.  Yellowstone has a new quake swarm that started a couple days ago sort of in the north - north west area of the caldera.  Not much happening in areas you would expect other than the Baja, and up in Alaska where they just never stop.  I certainly get more concerned for those areas when there is cessation because pressures then start to build and more than lawn chair gets tipped over.

Excused me but I do represent the legal firm of Dewey, Screwem and Howe.  We do share in your joy no one was sitting there.  However never pass up a chance for a littttle insurance money, or a government grant.  Clearly this is damaged and there needs to be a claim filed, we can assist.  Further you could file litigation because now no one will sit in this fine lawn settee.  Clearly unsafe and not labeled earthquake proof.   Also we might help you apply for a grant to discover why the one fell that direction and none of the others.  The government pays out big bucks to find such useless information.  Please feel free to contact us where our first consolation is free, and you do not owe us one cent until we send you the bill.

So I would like to point out thatthe last 18 months - 2 years is when these tumblers in OK have started. At the same time HGT moved to the area. Anyone else suspicious?

My wife said she felt it here at deer run. I was on a job in another town and didn't notice it. A lot to do about nothing if you ask me. Most likely someone discovered a new chili recipe.

Its funny. We have small quakes here often but no one knows about them until the news reports it.
I can tell by the dogs reaction. Every dog we have had lays on the floor and whines during a quake I can't feel.
