Amanda referred to Yucatecan Hammocs: here is some info

Polished thread, e.g. Oso brand, lasts longer and feels better.

Size of holes- more knots, smaller holes, more comfortable for sleeping

Sizing hammock- grab a hand full of hammoc at the middle of one side,
hold it up over your head, it must touch the ground across not counting what fills your hand to sleep at the 45 degrees that makes your back straight.

Mosquitero- mosquito bar that fits a hammoc, get one when you get the hammoc

Ropes- 1/2 in or better ropes, doubled or with leather sheathing at the part that touches the hammoc eye makes the hammoc last longer.

Daily- recover the hammoc by doubling twice then a wrap to hang on wall hook keeps it out of the way and prevents wear when not in it.  It only takes a minute to recover and set up.

I went to the Universidad of Yucatan (Yuc U) and lived in Tixcocob about 35 years ago.
Sleeping in a hammoc for years is the way to go in those latitudes, but after about 3 years you may notice a slight roto scoliosis in your lumbar vertebrae, I did.

Wash with detergent and dry completely every two to four weeks if you live in one.

Yes, I did!  How to keep cool in the summer--on a sleeping porch.

Thanks for more information.
