Hi Gypsy, I sent you a PM with what little I know, after all, working at the VA I encounter mostly prostate problems!  ;D

QuoteSassy, I'm quite sure ALL the protections are in place for the average citizen... ;)

Any nurses reading - I'm trying to figure out a natural alternative to estrogen.  After my surgery, I do have a deficiency in that.  Everything prescription-wise I've been given has put me over the top and unbalanced everything else.

Not a nurse, an accountant with lots of biology background, and clients in the wellness field.
Look at Dr. site www.yourmenopausetype.com.

For a cheap hot flash and mood fix--NOT estrogen--www.swansonvitamins.com , a cream called menogest. DOZENS of us are doing it, $5.00 a jar.

About soy, can't find my favorite non-profit site, but this one is overall interesting

Other creams, including testosterone--www.bioentopic.com

Herbal teas www.herbsbymerlin.com

Other stuff too, but this should give you a start.

Creative, thanks for the links!  Caifornia doesn't allow that cream to be shipped... but I did order some stuff... good resource there & prices are good at the Swanson site.  Thanks again.  Sassy

Thanks - I'll check 'em out...

Wow, California doesn't allow that stuff to be shipped?  Scary.  I hate to be protected from feeling better.
But the stuff from Biocentric Labs is homeopathic????  Maybe not regulated. Works, too.  Faithful customer.

I also now order stuff from Australia.  Low shipping cost, well researched products.  So far happy.

Or--if you want low cost herbs in bulk (so "bulky" I always have to share)--try www.herbalcom.com.

I love to make rooibos iced tea with lavender and rose hips, all found here by the pound.  MMMMM.
(Had to end this on a positive note) ::)

Should we start a new thread called "My Favorite Things"?

The wild yam cream is supposed to have the precursors of progesterone and estrogen in them.  Although I noticed that quackwatch was first up on a search.

I've read that fat cells make estrogen.  That search turned up a lot of stuff that I will graciously let someone else find the best of the articles.

Quackwatch is first up on ANY search for alternative products.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, but the doctor running the site is not exactly squeaky-clean.

Amanda_931

Doctor running quackwatch not exactly squeaky clean?

That's the impression I've gotten the few times I've looked at it.

My basic idea on such matters is--if it's cheap enough, if there really doesn't seem to be harm in it, I don't care if the positive result is because I want whatever it is to work.

(That said, Dr Weil in an early book talks about something he had that after he finally learned what it was was cured by homeopathy.  Might have been, might have been going to get better on its own, or the fact that he finally knew what was wrong--naming magic, for want of a better term--gave him the impetus to get better--in any case the book went flying across the room after I'd read how this was proof that homeopathy works.)

I get alot of my positive feedback on alternative methods from my animals, who obviously aren't affected by the placebo effect.  My dog's cataracts--milky eyes, no less--and Oops, barked at us until he got up close, forget catching sticks and other doggie pleasures--was cleared up 100% by megadoses of vitamin C.  Nice clear brown eyes until he died at 15.  My cat would jump down and her rear would collapse under her.  Read that the cause of that weakness in cats was unknown, but B vitamins could help.  Guess what?  100% O.K., lived to 19.  Same dog had an ear hematoma, then another, and another, and they were talking specialist and cutting off his ear (ouch!).  Also had one side of his face, including the eye, just hanging down from nerve damage from one of his surgeries--vet said it was permanent.  Got fed up with all this--miserable animal and $$$$ with no solution--and started him on Coenzyme Q-10 and Vitamin K.  Nerve damage reversed, no more ear trouble for the last five years of his life.  I could go on and on.

Instead of throwing the book across the room (but I love your spunk--and yes, what a ridiculous statement)--I take something from everything I read and come to my own conclusions.

You are making a believer out of me!  That is really great how certain supplements have cured your animals!  The pharmaceutical companies & FDA want to remove our rights & ability to buy over-the-counter herbal supplements/vitamins.  They want them all to be under a "codex" & only available through prescription!  That's another reason to keep informed about what our gov't & some big corporations are doing together!

I'm like Amanda... if I think some herb/supplement might help, I'll try it out - sometimes I notice considerable difference other times nothing, but whether that is the placebo effect or not, doesn't matter... with your animals, you saw outright reversal of the diseases - that is impressive.

My oldest son & Glenn's daughter are both into organic foods & alternative methods of healing... my son is always giving me advice!

Ah yes, Codex.  This site is kinda radical, but so are most of us.
