On this date (August 30) 1146, European leaders outlawed crossbows, intending to end war for all time--thus proving crossbow bans don't work either.

THE SENILITY PRAYER :

Grant me the senility to forget the people

I never liked anyway,

The good fortune to run into the ones I do, and

The eyesight to tell the difference.

What have we learned in 2,064 years?

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled,
public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be
tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should
be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt.   People must again learn to
work,  instead of living on public assistance."

QuoteTreasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told the House Small Business Committee on Wednesday that the Obama administration believes taxes on small business must increase so the administration does not have to "shrink the overall size of government programs."

Why are conservatives constantly perpetuating the lie that raising taxes on the over $250k crowd hurts small businesses when 97% of small businesses have a net tax income of less than $250k.  How does that tax change hurt small businesses,  when it will only affect 3% of them?  There just defending there constituency,  which is mega-multinationals and the super rich,  and trying to cloak it in concern for small businesses which is total BS.

That congresswoman is just demagoguing the issue,  and doesn't have her facts straight.  The only way out of the deficit crunch is both revenue increases and spending cuts.  Just plan old common sense.

I'm not a big fan of Geithner,  but everything he said in that clip is correct,  unlike the politically slanted reporting in the article.

Some people have the vocabulary to sum up things in a way you can understand them. This quote came from the Czech Republic. Someone over there has it figured out. We have a lot of work to do.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

A couple things I've learned in the work place:

When wearing a tie, always throw it over your shoulder.
It gives the illusion of urgency, even when standing still.
Your subordinates will become inspired and those you report to will leave you alone.

You really shouldn't even think about going to work with a bad cough while experiencing a case of diarrhea.
