Note - to cut down on garbage paperwork, send all trash - advertising etc. back to the sender along with your payment as long as it doesn't cost you extra to send it.  Let them throw it away and give your mail carrier job security.  :)

Postage paid replies to junk mail are even better. ::)

I just sent back the trash to the city of Fresno for their illegal out of town business taxes.  It has been ruled illegal in places where it has been tested, but who has money to prosecute?  [waiting]

I'd compost the stuff if it wasn't full of metal and other junk.

Hmm.  Shred it and use it for...  What?  Mulch?  it still gets in the soil.  Burn a lot of it (You can use some for starting your winter fire!) and you get greenhouse gasses.

Yeah, Glenn.  I think you have the best idea so far.

It was a suggestion we read somewhere and we decided to implement it... besides - my mom is a mail carrier and she needs the work...

Doctors vs. Gun Owners

Doctors

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy: U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now think about this:
Guns

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million )

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.

Statistics: Courtesy of FBI

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Please alert your friends to this Alarming threat.

Should we not ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand????!!!!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on Lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!!

Scary, very scary!!!

Let me get this straight:

Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee  whose head says he doesn't understand it,

Passed by a Congress that hasn't read it,

Signed by a president who smokes,

Funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes,

Overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and

Financed by a country that is broke.

What could possibly go wrong?

OUR FEDERAL  GOVERNMENT AT WORK.
Subject: Cash for  Clunkers...

A vehicle at 15 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 800 gallons a year of gasoline.

A vehicle at 25 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 480 gallons a year.

So, the average clunker transaction will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.

They claim 700,000 vehicles so that's 224 million gallons / year.

That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.

5 million barrels of oil is about 1/4 of one days US consumption.

And, 5 million barrels of oil costs about $375 million dollars at $75/bbl.

So,we all contributed to spending $3 billion to save $375 million a year.

Now you know why our government is going broke.

(Also makes you wonder about their claim that they can fix health care at no additional cost)

I love the numbers. Nobody ever double checks.  224 million gallons of gas is not 224 million gallons on oil.  One gallon of Light sweet Crude does not refine into one gallon of gas.  A more accurate description is 224 million gallons of gas at $3 a gallon equals $775 million in gas saved per year for the life of the cars. Approximately 8 years or $6.2 billion dollars.  Also demand curves for gasoline are exponentiation.  As small reduction in demand can save exponentially in price.  If gas were to go back up to $4 a gallon it would pay for itself in the first three years, plus this leaves out the massive money paid to the workers to build the cars and the taxes back to the government on that.  Things are never in a vacuum.  So if the minimum car cost $12,000 and the government gave a rebate of $4,500 or approximately 35%.  If a majority (over 50%) of the cost of a car is wages as all the car companies complain about, then around 35% of that would have been going right back to the government.

And all the crises and reforms (real reforms, too) so occupied the people that they did not see the slow motion underneath, of the whole process of government growing remoter and remoter...

The dictatorship, and the whole process of its coming into being, was above all diverting. It provided an excuse not to think for people who did not want to think anyway.

—Milton Mayer, They Thought They Were Free

The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy.

An Obituary printed in the London Times - not a joke and makes you think!

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
    Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
    Why the early bird gets the worm;
    Life isn't always fair;
and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate;
teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch;
and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot.  She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death,
by his parents:    Truth and Trust,
    by his wife:        Discretion,
    by his daughter:  Responsibility and
    by his son:          Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
    I Know My Rights
    I Want It Now
    Someone Else Is To Blame
    I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

An economics

professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a

single student before, but had once failed an entire

  class.

  That class had

insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no

one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then

said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

  All grades would

be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and

  no one would receive an

  A...

  After the first

test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a

  B.

  The students who

studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the

second test

rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the

ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied

  little.

  The second test

average was a D! No one was

  happy. When the 3rd test

  rolled around, the average

was an F. The scores never

increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings

and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

  All failed, to

their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also

ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is

great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want

to succeed. Could not be any

  simpler than that.

(Please pass this on) Remember, there is

  a mid-term  (test) election in

  2010

You know, aspiring to be as repressive as the North Koreans is not setting the bar very high.  Is that really a culture we want to emulate?

Even you will have to admit that there is a whole ocean of difference between what we do and what they do, Pox.
