Title: shed roof cabin design
Post by: Zee on December 04, 2004, 12:41:46 AM
Does anyone know of a cabin design around  800-1000sf with the shed roof. This is our first time building a home and we really like the simplicity of the shed roof.

Shed roofs are simple to build but tend to work best on small buildings.

If you need about 1000 SF that might be a building of 24 x 42 or 26 x 38 (if all in one rectangle). At that size the shed roof is not as simple to build since the high wall gets up there unless it is very shallow. Then you want to build a loft or put in high windows and it gets more complicated.

That 1000 SF size is actually most easily built with the walls all framed to the same height and then manufactured roof trusses lifted on top and set in place.

Something like the Grandfather or Volks cottage can be easily modified for such a house.
