Title: Hardened Nail Strength
Post by: alex trent on December 21, 2011, 06:16:03 PM

In my questions about building on here it was recommended I use stiffened nails.

I looked on the web for some general numbers to compare shear strength of standard nails with stiffened and hardened.  No joy except for standard...there I got 1625 lbs. and 125-140 lbs. The latter looks correct. No joy on the others.

I wrote MAZE and here is their reply. Of course will vary by ring/spiral and size...but the relative difference is likely close. And if you need the exact figure, they got back to me in 12 hours.  I like good customer service...I only bought 40 lbs of nails from them so far.

Might be useful in nail buying decisions. Was for me.
