Hi everyone,

Adam here (John's son) just doing some upgrades to the forum to keep it humming. It looked like there were some issues with the toolbar/smileys disappearing, but hopefully all is working better now?

There are a few new features as well:
  • Image hosting is now done natively and hosted on our server! (now you can attach images right in the normal interface without having to embed a link, etc. and you don't have to worry about losing everything as image hosting companies change their policies/pricing/etc).
  • More mobile-friendly design.
  • Drag and drop images, and one-click insert-into-post features (when you're in the full edit post menu).
  • Other tweaks, layout simplification, etc.

Feel free to let me know if there are any issues or glitches remaining and I'll try to address them. You can reply in this topic, or write anytime to questions@countryplans.com

None of us are as smart as all of us.

I notice that if a member uses the "Quick Reply" field at the bottom of a page the ability to post a picture using the self-hosted upload feature is not readily apparent. However, if the blue "Reply" button is clicked then the "Attachments and other options" link is available under the compose message field.

It is still possible to post a linked image on another server by using the "insert an image" button that appears directly above the compose message field. That though still does not store an image on the Country Plans server. To make an image a permanent part of a posted message use the "Reply" button and then the  "Attachments and other options".
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Yeah, I think the Quick Reply feature is too confusing for anyone who wants to post an image. I will try to disable it this Friday, to make it easier to use.

I was able to add a button to make it a little more intuitive:

It's nice that one familiar corner of the internet is still here, despite so many forums falling to the wayside over the years. Thanks for keeping it going!

I know this thread is pretty much from a year ago, but I too am glad this forum still exists and hasn't been absorbed into some sort of fakebook group.

Really appreciate the resource and I still think the majority of archived content continues to be relevant. Thanks!
