Post by: DaveOrr on April 07, 2017, 08:06:18 PM
Thank the lord baby Jesus that's over with.
Spent the last few weeks hauling materials out to the cabin for this years work.
Took out 2,500#'s of roofing, 4,000#'s of cedar and 14,000#'s of Hardie Plank siding.
All by snowmobile!!!!
Got about 1,000#'s to go out tomorrow and I can relax a while.

Spring is always the hardest part of the year for me with all this hard work after a long winter.  ;)

Wow. And to think I've been worrying about the logistics of getting things up my hill!

I've got a hill too!!!
From the lake to the cabin is 200' horizontal and it gains about 100' in vertical in that distance.

Dave
It's Snap-Lok by Westman Steel here in Canada.
It's their hidden fastener standing seam offering.

Yes and no. I'm lucky enough to have an ice road that passes my cabin about 1/2 mile off shore.
I haul the materials out on a 16 foot 14,000 GVWR car trailer.
I load onto the komatik there and run it up to the cabin.
My tow machine is an '08 Yamaha RS Venture GT. Not a good towing machine due to the gearing but it does the job.
The trail from the lake to the cabin needs work too which doesn't help things. I gain about 100' of elevation between the lake and front of the cabin with a pretty steep section right near the end. I have to take it easy as I can spin the track pretty easily there.
I can't take big loads but the short distance doesn't hurt when you have to do a big load of trips.
Last year I kicked up a rock and punctured the rad so had to borrow a buddies Polaris 550 fan machine and it was much better at towing than my heavy over powered beast.

This is a shot sitting at the shore where my trail comes out.
You can see my truck off in the distance.
