On another post JRR talked about a slip form and Glenn joked that JRR was another Ken Kern that got me thanking has anybody every build and used one of Kern's slip form?
Robert
Ken Kern did--- :) and John worked with Ken for a while down here. I don't know if he used the slip form or not.
Here is a place they are using a slip form with papercrete. http://www.zianet.com/papercrete/workingwpc.asp
Here is an article by Ken.

I know two couples who have in the county here.
First one's 20+ years old, second one got finished 2004.
On the first house the back and side walls are slipform, the front was cordwood, since concreted over on the outside--too many Asian Lady Beetles.
This house is basically self-heating--with a blower from the greenhouse in the front that kicks in when the green house overheats. And with awnings and a pergola it's not bad in summer, "we run a little AC unit sometimes, but only for dehumidification."
When I first met Doug, he was of the opinion that slipform/stone concrete was the only way to build a house. It took him a while to decide that it really was a two-person (at least) job. His enthusiasm led the second couple to build that way. I think they're happy with the house, but they ended up getting a mortgage and hiring people to finish it for them, while they worked.

Possibly as early as next week I'm (with a helper) going to slipform clay/straw into a wall. Keep you posted.
With pictures if possible, Amanda????? Thanks for the link. :)
