This one is a work in progress, looks like huge potential, but I feel I'm missing the boat

I know this one's been around, but I think it deserves a political slant

congressional pages are somewhat maligned at times, as their job in the off season is not in the top ten category of most desirable

We have a few grey squirrels down at the cabin. Big as cats. And my southern bride is gettin' a bit antsy about it. Ever time she talks about 'em, she finsishes with that little slurping noise one makes when talking about something savory. To me, the word 'savory' does not fit in the same sentence with 'rodent'. But I s'pose if I was hungry enough, festering boils off a baboon's hind end could be considered haute cuisine after a spell...
OK, I'm no hunter. Yeah, deer in my youth, but fishing has mostly taken my rec time. My lady, however, would leap from a tree on top of anything four legged if the only thing she had was a sharpened crochet hook.
So I got her her very own squirrel gun. A genuine Crossman 760, pellet pump. She coulda used one of my .22s, as I had the single shot in mind, and shorts should keep most the hide in one piece and at the same neighbor's places would be out of her trajectory. But she was set on pellets. And I think she'll be so busy crankin' up ol' blue, that those tree rats will have a pretty good chance of another summer.
She has promised mittens and slippers if successful, or a cap with 'even a couple tassels if it's male'........joy joy.
But she's after the meat. Here's where I get a tad antsy, as I know that after haulin' in a few kills, she's gonna slip in a couple squirrel anuses in my chicken fricassee.

Early snow, glad the firewood is in.
Put down some inane prosaic lines today.
Scratched myself 'tween inspirations....note: trudge over to the well and get bath water...today for sure.
Wife made "pot pie surprise"...smells savory...HEY! SUMPM TASTES LIKE BUTT!

This is actually one of my own photos.
The rose is my favorite flower, and my word play of the common phrase 'they rose to the occasion', transposed into a paraprosdokian phrase, is intended to instill a mental image of raising the glass in a toast to the rose, to it's own ability to signify without words a salute 'To the Occasion'

It was a delight to find this grouping of the many contours a rose takes throughout it's existence

Cheers
