Title: In search of small acreage, very specific needs.
Post by: Curtis on November 17, 2008, 02:29:09 PM
Hey,
I'm looking for anyone who has any sunny southern facing hillsides.

Looking for atleast 5 - 15 acres.

Perhaps this is land you have on your massive acreaged lot. Perhaps you want to help a dude out. I'm simply looking for a place to build a small, efficient underground home (see link in signature).

If anyone has any information, please reply with it. I'd like to know where the land is, (state and county, you can PM me more specifics if you want) and if you have photos that would be great. If not, Google Earth is just as good as it will show me the terrain and will show me the sun hitting the land at different times of the day.

I'm just a twenty year old dude looking for some cheap land so that I may be able to build a small house to get started in. Help a fellow do it yourselfer out!

I'd rather find something on here, than through an ad or real estate listing. Simply because I feel like I could get it cheaper on here dealing with a like minded individual, and i'm searching for specific features of the land. So i'll try my luck and hope some discussion gets started.

I can live anywhere I please  ;D

She on the other hand, well, we'll worry about that later.

I'll swoon her when I mention how much money we can save over the years of living in a such a type of house.

And if that doesn't work, well, I guess i'll save even more money by building a smaller house just for myself ;) Haha.

You start appreciate those gals more when you come in from the heat and they have a cool drink waiting for ya or you come in from the cold with a smashed thumb and they have some nice hot soup waiting ;)
Remember what they say about behind every great man there is a woman,...Usually with a round already in the chamber :o ;)

We'll see what happens ;)

I'm still trying to get things organized enough that I can sit her down and convince her of it.

I mean, what kind of girl wouldn't love to live underground and out of sight? Pfffff. Haha.

Here is one to show her.  It is the Cave we stayed at in France.  It only has light from the front unlike Mike Oehler's designs which have light from all sides, but still it was plenty bright in there.

Bernard and Barbara even gave us some antique gifts when we left.

That's a cool cave, Frank.  So many places to see right here in the US.

If you are still looking, take a look at my new listing for 20 almost wild acres in Douglas County ks..  I was going to build underground originally, but decided on 220 thousand plods of thermal mass instead, so the earth isn't constantly sucking heat from the house.  Even more efficient, and most of the work is already done.... So, what if YOU could afford to live in the country NOW, away from City hustle, but close enough to get to Lawrence in less time than it takes to get across town?
If you have $30,000 down or that much equity in your home, and could live in a 1 bedroom Trailer while an extremely energy efficient post and beam house is finished, my  Dream House and 20 almost wild acres could become yours.

If you have read this far, take a look at the aerial view and then read the whole post.
Search Google maps for Jennie's initials in the meadow.
