Well that's great, 'cause this 62 yr old kid wouldn't have it any other way.
I've had lotsa fun grabbing pix and adding my own captions to frames.
I'm sure people have seen some of these on the web, but not with my twisted renditions.
Maybe these w/be found entertaining.

Headlines from the late news... Sadly it was been reported by a international animal rights tour group, the World Society for the Protection of Animals. That our local President the much beloved Harriet Baxter went missing yesterday. The tour reported last seeing her confronting a man leading a hyena. They said Harriet boldly approached the man swing her umbrella and pointing it at him and demanding he unchain this noble creature and loose it. The man shrugged his shoulders and promptly did. Matter if milliseconds Ms Baxter disappeared into a village alley with the now loosed hyena in pursuit. The search will continue today provided the now loose hyena can be captured or killed. It is reported by locals that the man and the hyena both are "Just crazier than hell." Local police feel both are likely effected by a combination of evil spirits, strong drink, voodoo and love to howl at the moon now and then.

Now that's a news clip!
Rick, per chance, is it in direct relation to the photo, or just a great find of a related subject?
Lets say I did not find it on Drudge. It just sort of spoke to me..... Sort of Far Side-ien.
I most likely will write on your other thread a true-ism about your ocean going kayak Fauxto .... It was one of those Cannery Row - Steinbeck moments us writers have from time to time.... Up the Canadian Inland Passage at Bella Bella the ferry ......
What really confuses me is the beautiful very heavy chain followed

PS: Nice story addition Rick!
Aw, man!
I love it!!!!
Ya got me hooked, Rick.
I crave this kinda stuff.

Well, shucks, Bruce, your not so bad yerself....
Truth, there is nothing more stimulating to me than reading fresh off the keyboard stuff...things not proofed or edited....or re-thought.....mind farts....mental enemas.....whether the day's happening, or an ancient recollection....or an inspired penning fostered by a picture....actually, the latter takes true true talent...and I love it!

Sure,
I have no hold on 'em.
Keep in mind, I found the pictures on the web...s-o-o-o-o......
I find it fun to grab, frame, and add fractured verbiage.
It's a way of clearing the mind after (or during) a day of mental sludge.
I'm sure there are some really creative thinkers out there that just haven't dabbled.
If anyone needs a gentle nudge on the technical side to get started, a PM is most welcome.
Believe me, if I can do it anyone with two fingers can.
Eveyone has the free paint program (I'm pretty sure).
As far as creating verbiage, there's no help in regard to my mental state.
I have given thought to the idea of instilling image memory by creating posters with ones like the pandas and their mental process capabilities, for an educational aid application.
Here's one I'm toying with on a commercial slant:

Scorpions make the greatest pets.
(note: this is absolute fiction...but yet so vivid in my mind)
Had a few as a child. I say 'a few' cause they'd just disappear from time to time when I brought 'em in the house.
I called my first one Tippy, cause if you reached yer hand out to pet him, he'd reach out with his magical tippy tail and touch your finger.
I call it magical cause if you say, stubbed yer toe, or had a tooth ache, one touch of his tail, and those pains would jus disappear!
The swellin' and itchin' of yer finger would go away too, in only a few days.
Curly only hung around for a day after introducing him to dad. Guess dad was too intimidating, what with all his jumping and hanging on the curtain rod an' all...and I guess his screaming probably hurt Curly's ears.
However Scorpy was my last, and very favorite. He'd jus curl up in my shoe at night, and there he'd be in the morning...tail a wiggling like a happy little scorpi dog.
One morning I brought him to breakfast.
Mom took a shine to him right away, and decided to play tennis with him using her pancake flipper for a tennis racket.
I jus set my chin on my arms at the corner of the table, watchin' the action.
Only thing is, I forgot to tell Scorpy of her killer first serve.
Here's Scorpy, pre tennis career:

One thing about that....You would only have to out run one person off the green..... Myself I would put my money on the guy in the dark sweater not looking back.... The guy with the dark pants does not stand a chance.... His feet are glued to the ground. The guy in the lead is all tangle foot..... Really the guy with the dark sweater.... unless they trip him with a club.... But the guy in the dark sweater looks like his is going to trip up the guy in the lead sort of like field hockey or real hockey.....
Actually, the guy on the extreme left looks like a clone of my retired boss.....same build, same serious countenance, same stance after missing his third putt (preparing to break his putter)....I always called his second putt his approach shot.
Come to think about it, Rick, it could be him, and he's the only one unaware of Yogi

Yeah, only seen two blackies in the wild here, and that's about 37 yrs of travelin' the bush. Plenty of sign in berry country, specialy huckleberries, but they are quite shy, usually.

We have a few grey squirrels down at the cabin. Big as cats. And my southern bride is gettin' a bit antsy about it. Ever time she talks about 'em, she finsishes with that little slurping noise one makes when talking about something savory. To me, the word 'savory' does not fit in the same sentence with 'rodent'. But I s'pose if I was hungry enough, festering boils off a baboon's hind end could be considered haute cuisine after a spell...
OK, I'm no hunter. Yeah, deer in my youth, but fishing has mostly taken my rec time. My lady, however, would leap from a tree on top of anything four legged if the only thing she had was a sharpened crochet hook.
So I got her her very own squirrel gun. A genuine Crossman 760, pellet pump. She coulda used one of my .22s, as I had the single shot in mind, and shorts should keep most the hide in one piece and at the same neighbor's places would be out of her trajectory. But she was set on pellets. And I think she'll be so busy crankin' up ol' blue, that those tree rats will have a pretty good chance of another summer.
She has promised mittens and slippers if successful, or a cap with 'even a couple tassels if it's male'........joy joy.
But she's after the meat. Here's where I get a tad antsy, as I know that after haulin' in a few kills, she's gonna slip in a couple squirrel anuses in my chicken fricassee.

This is actually one of my own photos.
The rose is my favorite flower, and my word play of the common phrase 'they rose to the occasion', transposed into a paraprosdokian phrase, is intended to instill a mental image of raising the glass in a toast to the rose, to it's own ability to signify without words a salute 'To the Occasion'
It was a delight to find this grouping of the many contours a rose takes throughout it's existence

A while back I put together some frames that I thought might make a type of skewed greeting card.
A bit of dark humor, or something to make the receiver think.
The sender being a dumped GF or BF, or just for someone that acted inappropriately
Never got the gumption to try to have them marketed.
Here's a couple of what I call Fallmark Cards intended for ones that fell a bit short of the mark, fathers being the target for these two.

Too funny, I thought the term 'fauxto' was mine.....just now googled it...it's everywhere...and I seem to be misusing it according to the urban dictionary...but what the hey.
Ernest, those are great! Hadn't seen quite a few of them.

Well, I do love a challenge.
I prefer natural untouched pix, like Shooter, UK, and muldoon provided, and happily most of these are untouched.

OK Ernest T, that pug in the shower was/is quite the challenge.
Thing is, the good pix really don't need any verbiage, and if there is some, it kinda detracts.
But as you've noted, some of these need a better caption.
So, I spent w-a-a-a-a-y too much time just lookin' at that pug's little pathetic face, thru Jeopardy, and the NY Times crossword........nothin'.
My mind went everywhere it could at end of day.

Hey carroll, thank you for the nice words, and glad you enjoy.
I gotta say, I have as much fun with them as anyone.
Now I must forage like mad, cause if dawdle and skip by the evening edition, Sassy will sic Glenn on me or smpm.............
I really enjoyed the Memorex ad (way back when) where the guy was gettin' blown away by the amp, and when I found the dog hanging out the window with sun glasses on, well, had to find that ol' ad to cut/paste.....took 20-30 minutes discovering the right word search combo...Memorex being the one word I'd forgotten.....go figure

PS Although I cannot figure out the one where the blob is saying, "I had catfish for dinner, and now neither of them will talk to me" ????? Sorry to have to ask for an explanation, but it's driving me nuts!
Well, I just copied it from an old Ziggy cell, and really don't get Ziggy at all.....as the caps in all the Ziggy cells drive me a couple clicks past sanity (short trip)...don't know whether to go 'huh' or 'what?'
I imagine it means cats and fish are upsought because they were on his menu.
I just liked the weird Ziggy lookin' creature.
I'm going to be experimenting with a bit of twisted humor (a bit off and a lot over the wall), and hope to get this very kind of feed-back, carroll.
If anyone has a tendency to go 'huh?', I'd love to know, and explain.
And yes, of course you can forward anything I create, but keep in mind I'm getting this stuff from the web too.
I've run into pix that give a copyright notice, and I leave those alone, but still.....

Too late Rob
Yeah, I get that, but I just don't get the whole Ziggy genre...yeah, he's everyone, and his irony is supposed to be poignant....but, really? The toon's longevity astounds me.
Now far side, wow, I could read Larson till the cows come home. He bailed quite early...hope he resurrects himself
Dilbert; good stuff
Non Sequitur; sometimes
Pickles; yeah
Goose and grimm; sometimes a few farsidean cells appear
All the others just take up crossword space IMO.
BTW the Ziggy creator just passed away a couple months ago
Larson, what a mind
(https://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l588/Garyo424/FarSide003.jpg)
Thanks, Gary, NOW I get it! (Duh! Nouns and their antecedents . . . .) I don't think I've ever seen a Pickles cartoon, but I agree with your assessments of which ones are funny (I usually read the comics first, and they definitely seem to have gotten less astute and/or funny -- I'm not turning into a fuddy-duddy, am I? Hee, hee.)
Gary Larsons is definitely the pick of the litter -- I wish he'd grace us with more of his perspective, as well! I loved Calvin and Hobbes (Bill Watson?), too . . . .
I always wondered if their cartoons came easily to them, or if they had to 'deliberately' skew a "normal" perspective (is it work or is it play? Real or Memorex -- except I guess, that would be play/work = real/Memorex . . . not the other way around -- ok, I'm getting really picky . . . .)
:)
Pickles
Always gives me a smile...sometimes a chuckle.......sometimes a run and show the bride
(https://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l588/Garyo424/PICKLES.gif)
I can't get into Calvin and Hobbs.......my friends of the comic realm don't understand why, but hey, we're all a bit different, thank goodness.
I suppose their creativity comes in bunches, and they can crank out a ton of material in short order, then when the urge abates, they leave it alone.....Larson may be the exception.
I have a select group of business contacts, of which, after putting something together, I'll broadcast my creations to them, and they to me. These are things that would never make muster here, but as I pound 'em out, giggling maniacally, thinking OMG this is great stuff, killer funny, I await their critique. Sometimes it never comes.......We are all quite honest with each other. Not brutal. But if we think something ain't that good we'll just give our own tweak and send it back or just not reply (no words says alot). It's a rich experience for me, however a bit tough on the ego sometimes. The urge is to follow up with 'Hey, what'dya think?'.....'Yeah, Gary, looks like you put a lot of effort to it.........your day job is still secure, right?'.....so I leave it alone.......

For those of us who went to see live rock shows during the late 70's, the 80's, and 90's, it pokes fun at several of the norms of that era. Shoot, I think I've even been at shows in the oughts where some drunken moron screamed out "Freebird!" as a request of a band that plays a completely different genre of music.

Sometimes electrical codes are a good thing ;D
Yeah, why not plug in yer electric finger and stick it in yer mouth.
Musta been fun times back then.
Had a friend that was an electrician.
He told me once he was pullin' line for a phone system, and maintained a habit of using his teeth to strip the lines.
Then one day somebody called while he was strippin' the phone line.
Yeah, it was low voltage, but still bit back.

Not to fret Gary, I know when I'm out classed. I had a friend named Elwin who had
a knack for puns to the degree that his friends locked him in a closet and wouldn't let him out
until he had come up with 20 puns. He proceeded to rattle off 20 puns one right after the other. The last one being: "o pun the door" .
I bow to your grater abilities.

"Grater" is the word, Bruce...and groan also works.
Seems your friend Elwin was beyond cure, and that's what happens.
So use care, my friend.
I do use constraint in doling out direct inane
punishment as my OCD can get away from me.....BTW, the sky is a much different color once you go 'round the bend.
Out classed?...Hah!.....out crassed, maybe........
Had a business acquaintance a few years ago, Joaquin.....used his name several ways, Joaquin on air ,etc.
Turns out he was up for the challenge and we sent punnies back and forth until even we couldn't stand it any more....thing is, neither of us could just end it without including a pun filled sentence....which reminds me, I've got to answer his morning salvo..........

Gary are you referring to the Bhopal disaster? For those that were too young to really take it all in when it occurred.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal_disaster
Interesting they were also involved in the Hawks Nest Tunnel Disaster right here in the good old USA.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawks_Nest_Tunnel_Disaster
Actually, just generalizing on how rife things were back then, and the blatant UCC ad hit me smack between the eyes, so just had to couple it with Nike's 'just do it' slogan...seemed quite fitting.
But great examples, both.....ah yes, the good ol' days

So if Max Factor/Protractor started/exacerbated this whole slave to perfection that the American culture seems to suffer from, does that make us all math nerds? Hee, hee!
And I am lousy at math! Unfortunately for my building non-skill talent . . . .
:)
PS And I'm going to Taos to look at a straw bale house there that I might want to buy -- I moved from NC to CO almost two decades ago -- figured I might as well check out what's farther on . . . . but, don't know if I'll get down there Saturday or Sunday now, because of weather. I don't ski or paint -- but I'm going to be car camping, so it'll be an adventure, at least! (And I'm going to the library tomorrow so I'll have lots of books to read by flashlight . . . . I just hope the batteries work well in the cold.)
Well, you and my bride should get together, seems your and her adventuresome spirits are one.
She'd love for me to build her a straw bale house........
However, wood is a very forgiving medium for me...straw, not so much.
I'm sure she'll be popping in on your adventure and cheering you on.
...and she too is a bibliophile...........has a few thousand books of which she's read and plans on reading again one day. I have about 50, of which I've read two (they have pictures....and pop outs).

A wry, sinister twist develops as the firefox emerges from his winter den....torturing the blocked mind of a kindred soul.
Truth, I can usually rise outta the lazyboy, stroll thru the den, thru the french doors to the deck, peer at the sky, and presto, run back to the keyboard and peck madly away..with both fingers.
It's been a month now, and my pennings are twaddle.
I have the skeleton of a mystery/drama...a good one, a pretty damn good one, and can do nothing with it......nothing.................

Well, this ignotechapotamus is still stunned by the ability of grooves in vinyl making beautiful sounds...so I gotcha beat, Mr Fox.
Funny thing, technology....a couple years ago I ventured into the mega electronics store to get one of those gizmos that transfer VHS to DVD....$200....transfer all our family VHS stuff and save forever...good plan.
I asked the whizbang geekoidal sales kid if the VHS side had four heads...he had no idea what I meant......
Oh, and after a fun filled afternoon of manual reading and transferring that data to the compartment where my brain used to be, and then back out and down my arm past my elbow and to my button pusher, I was able to get tape one transferred. Replication of process has never been my strong suite, so sometime before the witching hour and a multitude of vain attempts to yield DVD two, I transformed myself back to something acceptable by mainstream society and slunk off to bed....greatful beds are not yet electronic

Supposedly one of the things one won't find on the Mesa is any meth-making fools -- pot being the drug of choice -- but hey, wherever I wind up I'm going to be poor and barely making it (that's true where I am now). ;)
There sure is a beautiful sky on the Mesa, but not sure I want to be hanging around drunks with guns -- or without them, for that matter . . . ???
So, I'm taking the opportunity my laryngitis has given me for quiet reflection. I really ought to at least get to some gun classes in the next few months, no matter what, just in case, hee, hee! d*

Well, thing is, living modes vary.
The HOAs and CCRs, and all the suburban trappings.
The farm and rural life, and upkeep.
Or the place to hang yer hat, computer, and meager things of need.
My bride and I tend to lean toward the latter.
Been that way 42 yrs.
In town, just cozy little places.
No museum rooms.
All function.
In the bush, cozy cabins. All appearances simple but with an aura of warmth, wood, calm colors.
The decision, in my eyes, is if you plan on your place being an investment, or just your abode...a place where you yearn to be, to get back to, to putter around, gardening, tending chickens, curling up in a cozy room with a book and a cup.
Wife and I can be anywhere, together. She'd live in that commune in a heartbeat. I could, but I won't.
I prefer my renegade neighbors to be a bit more distant.
Only you know what your innermost being needs.
Enjoy the adventure.
'PS And all the other members may enjoy your fauxtos and quips just as much as I -- trouble is, we're not paying you! (Rats -- you knew there was something wrong, but you just couldn't figure out what . . . . .)'Yeah, I s'pose.

D'ohhhh...Stupid Harbor Freight chain binders!
Not a bad guess, waggin, but I think haste made the waste...been there, kinda.
Didn't put the latch lock down when hookin' up the trailer to a little flat bed straight truck. Fired up the little JD 450 crawler, and commenced to nurse it onto the flatbed and KA-PLEWY, the trailer front end popped straight up, tearing off the pigtail and safety chains.
Slowed me down a bit.
Seems that trailers and cranial flatulence go hand in hand. I remember figuring out that the center of gravity on one wasn't quite where I thought it was with a small boat and outboard on it when I undid the coupler and the trailer tilted rapidly for the sky. It missed my cheek by a whole inch or so in the process. Another attention grabbing incident was when the free trailer I was towing had the coupler come apart while going down a hill on a busy 2 lane road at about 50 mph. Thankfully my education on safety chains had occurred before that one, as the only damage was where the trailer winch stand modified my tailgate. Was able to MacGuyver it back together the right way on the side of the road and continue on for the next 3,000 miles. Ah, the things we survived when we were young. I like to think I'm smarter now, but every now and then I prove myself wrong.
Headin' to the crackamyas river early one morn', a couple guys ahead of me whipped around the corner. Their drift boat, however, decided to put in right there, from off the starboard side of the trailer. We all had a good laugh, swapped lies, tied down his boat, and went our merry ways.
Yeah, surviving youth. Makes ya patient, and careful....more often anyway.
Goin' ta bed now...and settin' both alarms.
'cranial flatulence'......nice
Say g'night waggin

It's ok Gary, I got the part about you being thrown under the bus, but you looked so comfortable under there, and seemingly quite at home.
Bruce
Thought you did
However, I live under the bus.
I used to just throw myself under there 20 yrs ago, during fun planning meetings, in my tiny microcosm of a corporate world.
Now I have sense enough just to stay there.
However, these days of tenure I do my best to invite company.
Young people are so easy it's not even fun.

Glad you are being diligent in your job, GaryO, I needs these laughs - you've been especially on target lately c*
Well, glad to know it's working for ya, Sassy.
Seems I'm runnin' out of immediate finds of web pix, but will get busy with it again.....my mind has been mush lately...not that I've been thinking too hard or anything, just a mental clog.
Yeah, our dog, Schotzy, actually would clean up after herself, but didn't need the tools...did keep the dog food bill low though.
Her burps weren't very becoming, however.
Well, I've found a sight that has some great great talent, so after the next 2-3 self-made caps/frames from web pix, I'm just gonna forward what I like, and hope you guys do too.

Well, turns out, that new site I found is a bit lame (children, 19-20 something)
I don't think my mind could deal with another PTSD from youthful prima donnas (foraged thru their forum), as I still have an unhealed fissure in my cerebral cortex from dealing with a gaggle of smarty (training) pants engineers.......
Funny, give a fresh sharp witted technical mind a morsel of credence and next thing ya know they are all condescending and full of profound instruction. I just wanna reach out and touch 'em, sometimes.
........and they rejected my stuff.....format mongering poop stains anyway........
I will forward some of their stuff from time to time however, cause it's pretty darn good.

Y'ever do sumpm, thinkin', 'Oh, this is gonna be good', and later....moments after you've poked the 'send' button, think, 'What'd I do that for? What was I thinkin'?
I won't talk about the misdirected ones that, once sent, you realize it was the wrong default.
Those'd be the questionable ones that were intended for Grant, not Gramma. (one day there w/be a cyber retrieve)
The point, Gary, get to the point.....I'm jus sayin' I'm intentionally posting these lame creations, cause:
1) Some may find the humor
2) It took effort on my part and I don't have the guts to kill it, so I park it in the burgeoning pile
in my Lame Frame file.
3) Sometimes it's good to post lame stuff, cause it makes the pretty good stuff look better
So, I'm gonna do two-a-post to get through this series, as my OCD will not permit otherwise (that'd be #4):

Here is my take
I like the tree in the woods the best.
House hunters I really found the blue cooler very amusing in a field of desert camo. Really I have problems with people killing people then making light of it. War is a hard fact of life yet death to me is never taken lightly. Offended by it? No but was not rolling on the floor. So I place it last
The Indian Paratrooper - I thought change the caption to Kit Carson. Then a lot of people do not know the history and the hatred there. How about Custer? Roosevelt? Truman? It to me is second but then it is sort of a heady having to put two and two and coming up with this must be Geronimo. And then that is not his real name either so......Goyathlay or Goyahkla. < I did have to look that up by the way. That was not off the top of my head.
rlr
Great feed back!!
Shows how minds have regressed, as the majority, so far, liked the House Hunter best, but that was from the younger sector.
First in depth reply on the Native American....middle aged sector loved it, younger set didn't get it, and now a bit of historic feedback coupled with personal opine.
Thank you pard
I liked the House Hunter as well, but then I'm a Marine. Some how I don't think they were
worried about the water cooler giving away their position.
Bruce
Thank you Bruce....for what it's worth, you are aligned with the younger set
That's probably because I never grew up ;D
I'm still 15 going on 16. I found this out when I asked my wife hold she was.
She replied 12 going on 13. I figure if it works for then it can work for me.
So far it has lasted over 40 years and it still works. Besides, I'm stubborn and I refuse
to grow up.
Bruce
Well, there ya go.
Seriously, I've also aligned myself accordingly.
I still poke fun at death, laugh in it's face, but do need to respect others as I post things that traverse the edge.
Feedback, like Rick's, is priceless to me...helps me think on things that are tucked deep, or never were.
What a mix, humanity!
Ain't it grand??!!

OK, of the 63 replies from (I'm gonna say approx 100 viewers, incl 20 or so from this site...this data scientifically gathered from looking up with my hand on my chin) Geronimo took first with 47, and House Hunter came in with 13, leaving the tree with 3.

I demand a recount. The tree was clearly the most clever. And it cleverly pulled my closet hidden tree hugging sentiments. Clearly was a tree goddess sitting on the throne. In fact I have loosened up a lot on my view and vote. I find my inter-feelings normally very loving and peaceful now wants to choose the M1 Abrams with the big blue cooler and blow something up. Fact is I might have just kicked the stupid Indian out of the plane myself. He did not jump someone pushed him. Okay? Lots of stuff goes on in this little old world you know with pushy people........I'm taking a 'lude' and going back to bed and getting in touch with my in'erself.

Gary; the fish heads are freaky.
............didn't mean for 'em to be.
Ya'know, ever time I take a fish (I have yet to put back a trophy that wasn't foul hooked), I look down and consider it's expression....and it's always the same..... mouth open, eye's wide, like 'I can't believe I fell for that roostertail!!'....or, 'That little bug just kicked my arse and tossed me outta the water'!
Yeah, I'm a barbarian, but damn, catch and release has never made sense to me.....I'm there to get...cook.....eat.
The breeze carrying the musky wafts of mud and reeds, mixed with sweet mountain air, the stream pulsing on yer shins, the trees breaking the warm rays of ol sol, feeling the cold and warmth of nature against yer skin all at once, all being side benefits....... but great ones, ones to reflect on years after.
Great, now I'm getting' the fever.........
My BIL constantly preaches to me about catch-and-release, but then goes deer hunting every fall. I asked him how you catch-and-release a deer you've just shot....
Speaking of fishing I stopped by Sportsmans Warehouse here and bought a couple light action stream Fenwick poles and a couple Pflueger not ultra light but smallish reals for them.
You sound like my dad and his take on catch and release. "You all do what you want. Me, I'm here to catch'em." He had the worst time with those sportsman's shows where they were hauling in all these fish and nothing hit the pan.
Couple years ago Ellen got me a wonderful fly rod. I confess I never have tossed a fly with it or my old one in several years prior to that. Between work at railroad and work at the ranch it was just hard to get away. Period. However this year I have resolved they shall tremble at my name once again. Brookies and Rainbows shall swim, darting in a panic here and there. Looking for cover and hiding to no avail. They once again will be telling chilling legends, folklore, myths, rumors, and misinformation of my skill. Be it with simple worm, rooster tail, or mepps. Or well presented Adams or Yellow Humpy, a Black Stone or a Bumble Bee. The fish will once again marvel. Oh Yes they again will line up mesmerized waiting. Oh yes waiting for a chance to grace my hook. Yet I offer no promise of release just that I will catch. Oh you that grace these waters come so willingly for the catch..... We shall see about release. For I too am more like my father. "You all do what you want. Me, I'm here to catch'em."
I also because of my pity I show these slime rockets have resolved to take up reloading. Not that I want to shoot them! No! NO! I want to give them a break. That was my retirement gift to myself a new reloading press, scale and powder dump. I have been buying up bass and bullets for some time. This northerner with the trapped cajun soul is going to have a real butchery this fall.

Yeah, that situation begets a lot of thoughts.
Doubt if it's Oregon. Those logs are called 'pecker poles' up here. Not too common, with the exception of logs destined for the pulp mills....they do have to keep their rigs runnin, and there's always been gypos, but they usually have their own loader.
However, those logs'd be a great size for me one day, as I plan to buy a load like that for winter and split 'em up, when I retire to our property. 'Course I'd need a splitter.....and a wood stove....and a bigger cabin.....
One day...one day

Ah, I've seen those in the south...guards, sometimes on horseback.
Here, we have a program called 'Adopt a Highway', where people, organizations, families, and other bleeding heart outfits sign up for a stretch of road to pick up litter from degenerate mouth breathers that somehow got a license to drive.....it's quite the cycle.
I like your version better.

Here there are no armed guards even if they are out of the jail. Then there is community service and those out on DUI's and that type of offences are allowed to work some of their sins off. Along with a lot of other hoops to jump through. Then we have people like families, churches, and business that adopt an section of the hi-way. So you really never know. If Deacon Smith from the local Baptist Church is doing it be cause of _____ or _______. And heck there is Sharron the piano player, must be a chuch group but ya' can't be to sure. ;)
Yes, Sharron IS very NICE, but remember, this is a family oriented forum.

That is good Gary, you see that a lot in yards with real tight curves going into switches with those long coach cars like that. However this is a main line and a passing track. My autopsy would be a reduced to meaningless railroad terms. Like someone took the power on the switch improperly, or gave the power back improperly, or maybe a thin flange on a wheel split the switch. It was definitely done at slow speed. I have seen a lot of those in 35 years of railroad. Some right before my very eyes........
My worst / best .... Try that with 110 cars at 60 MPH, down the straight rail with 6800 feet of loaded import Seattle containers. We had a car with a broken wheel start up the pass which is a 30 mph turn out right next to the Snake River. Then jumped back to the straight rail and never propagated an emergency application of the train brakes. Smooth! If you would have been sitting in the siding however; you would have been all girlly screaming, yelling in tongues and going to church next Sunday.
Life was good, train felt good. Then the dispatcher called and said, "You guys still moving?" I thought Huston we have a problem and I started setting air or stopping the train. (Not my first rodeo.)
Conductor says, "Yes." He not as colorful of vocabulary as mine. I could have worded it a lot better and painted a better word picture. But I had my hands full of brake handles right then and my fingers were covered with cold Albertsons deli chicken grease.
Dispatcher says, "Maybe you better stop and inspect! You just left both ends of the siding at Rock Island out of correspondence."
Conductor says, "Okay, but .............." I'm thinking there is no but..... When the gods in Omaha tell you to stop and inspect that is what you do. Beside while he is out walking around out there in the dark inspecting the train I'll finish my chicken. (Engineers do not do inspections because you are needed in the cab of the locomotive.)
I'm setting air to stop as smooth as I can. I guess the conductor is trying to explain 23 reasons not to stop and walk the train. All of which they have heard before and fall on deaf ears.
When we got stopped and he started walking we had a wheel that had literally blew up, more was gone than was there. When everyone showed up I guess it was pretty close to 20 miles of why didn't it go off there. How did it make it thorough ten plate girder bridges and the major $$$ bridge over the Snake River near Huntington, Oregon. Three other sidings and one yard. We never broke a rail but messed up a lot of ties and managers bonus checks for the year. :)

Gary thank you for the invite to do that and sort of spell you. However with spring coming, a wood shop full of projects. A hope / need that we can get some of them cleared out before the spring and the spring bloom and the orchard and berries. In other words most of my free time is sort of spoken for now until winter as we have cussed and discussed. Top it off when up at the ranch we do not have internet unless I drive down to the store and jump on the neighbors satellite next door. He keeps an open router for us to use.
That said, I might see something now and then, mark it up and post it. However trying to keep the beasts head above water all the time takes way more resources than I can / want to put in to it.
Thanks Rick

Sort of like when you are riding shot gun, getting ready to crawl into the sleeper, and Ace is sitting over there picking his nose and wiping buggers on the steering wheel for you when you wake up....... Or crawl into the sleeper you just start to drift off and you feel him jab the brakes, and start yelling, then you just about drift back to sleep and the truck starts to weave and wave. Sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite.... c*

I think you did push the like button.........
Thanks even thought that was Gary's post.
I know input really is important to Gary and myself.
Rick
'Tis true, Rick.
What's really really neat is when you cruise along makin' fauxtos like crazy, laughing manically, sometimes strugglin', and days weeks pass, then a stinkerbell chimes in with a wonderful remark.......didn't even know she was lookin'.....and that's a delight comin' the other direction.
Thanks ya'll from me too....and thanks to Rick, and Peter, and all the others that have contributed.
Now I gotta get to findin' cause Rick can't carry this load for long. Those steady commenters will be wonderin'......not mentioning names, but they rhyme with lassy, and ferrel..........
...and, yes, that's that there like button you just mashed, muldoon......I'm bettin' you know that walk well...both sides
I don't know what I'd do without my daily Fauxtos! I have a good sense of humor, and am very quick at finding funny comments in conversation, but the Fauxto thing escapes me. Example: The other day, I walked past the maintenance department, where there was a small group looking intently into a box. I asked, "Whatcha got there?" One of the guys replied, "It's an a**hole detector." I immediately replied, "Looks like it's working; you've got 5 so far. " Five people included him, of course. I don't know how you guys do it with fauxtos, though. Keep up the good work!
Mush you paint a good word picture there my friend!
Got to remember that one...... Looks like it working......

I LOL'd several times, and again once I saw what was in their hands..........
Mush, you've definitely got the verbiage.....just grab some pics and play....oughta be good.....well, I better get back to work, I hear the detector goin' off....oh, wait, I just moved a bit in my chair........

Sassy as a ex-allky - I have been clean and sober since 1990 or so. Long enough I sure don't dwell in it. Yet know how delicate sobriety for some even with 20 years and 30 years under their belt. In fact I sort of hated to use these --- yet sort of wanted to.....

Levitating Dash-hounds Gary? This is serious. Crotch sniffing Dash-hounds or they might go for the kill and go for the face. We need to all, once again write our congressman, well then some are congresswomen. Then some are sort of?? Well anyway--- we need government assistance in this --- and at least have hearings. We need to do something about all this hovering and levitating going on in all these other countries.

excellent cat tale Rick..(yes a pun)
I still keep finding fauxtos of Glenn, however;
As the old batchman at the ready-mix company I drove for in 1974-1976 use to say. "Wow!! That looks more fun than six yards of six bag mix! Yes SIR!!!"
But then this morning the way my back feels, the thought of flat work just really chills me! I am so glad Glenn bid that job and not me. But then I'm still smiling, pretty sure a cup of Joe and big ol' plate of ham and eggs and I'll be ready to go.

Me being a birder I doubt I will ever see any in the wild unless we make the trip to North Seymour Island of the Galápagos Islands the current hot Booby watching spot in the world! This is an idea introduced at our last BLM / USFS road closure meeting. Jeep / Microsoft / Google Earth are teaming up, and are all working together so they can just close all the roads and trails in the Federal Catalog. But thanks to this little vintage jeep you can still go anywhere - anyway only virtually. In 3D and HD - no less!! We certainly do not expect to see those companies marketing off road equipment to just sit on their laurels either. Look for them to introduce virtual fourwheelers, and even motorcycles into this soon popular sport.
Remember you will still be able to run your once favorite roads and trails and never leave home. The insurance companies and Obama Care providers were clapping gleefully at our meeting. If this proves successful and as popular as it was promoted and promised to be. Look for marketing giant Cabella's virtual hunting and fishing games to be incorporated, as well as Bass Pro-Shop..... Word on the street is that Coleman will market virtual camping supplies as well, not to mention virtual cabins where you just stay home but make believe you have a cabin .... well somewhere.... Look at the gas savings and ah, ah other stuff.....
I'm on it!

Hey, Jay, I checked the rules...nope, fancy frames not compulsory......especially if the captions are good.....or in your case, great.
Great caps!
Keep 'em comin'
You prolly have that little 'paint' program that comes with most puters...if you want to frame your submission, just play with that a bit.
There's also a free program called GIMP that's much fancier, and is a good sub for photoshop.
But if yer anything like me, after fiddlin' with some new program for 20-30 minutes, yer hind end goes into a coma and you have to get up and do jumping jacks to make it come to.
But, truly, keep 'em comin'
Thanks for this one.

Ellen the love of my life literally, we met our senior year of high school. 42 years ago and been pretty much inseparable ever since. Well except for my railroad relocations when we were just getting started and no seniority and had to chase a job.

Wonder how they show prostitutes on their expense forms? ??? The ever popular entertainment category? It is all above board, after all they got busted........ Taxpayers foot everything else. I guess a good drunk and a prostitute is in the line of duty. Sort of warm and fuzzy all over! ;) Or is that some strange new untreatable STD? ??? My word what have we got protecting the elected President of the USA. We are so out of control....

Sorry, Gary it has been way to long since I've been in the saddle. I gave my two good horses to two 4H girls over in Oregon who needed them a lot more than I. I still have all my saddles and tack but I just do not step up that high any more. The cowboys from up at the Prairie asked if I wanted to go on a ride with them last year when they gathered. I told them I just don't know if they make horses that gentle anymore for me. But Lord I do miss it. Miss it enough to spill my stew here in front of you all. :-[

My wife would not allow me to post anything until I seen my shrink. Well I got in to see him or her today. (I am not really sure.) (( I am not sure if him or her is even sure about itself.)) Gary who do I send this billing too? I am sure it is your fault. Barack does not seem to be answering the secret Obama Care hot line right now. Actually, I have a friend that put hisself thru college by pushin' frozen goodies on sticks....and repairing scooters.....and scrambling to keep everything frozen during power outages......and having territorial scooter wars.....rainy weekends......and keepin' hisself from givin' away the farm to penniless kids in the slum sections.........and trying to get that %&$#*& song out of his head every blessed night.....

Great post Gary... It reminds me of a new type of creativity that is a by-product of all the digital photos sloshing around the web. Who was the genius that saw a boring photo of what?, a lecture at a wine shop?, and turned it into this great interpretation!??
Uh, that would be me.............
I've submitted, maybe ten or twelve fauxtos of other's 'creations', as for awhile there I got too busy, but felt kinda obligated to post.
But I've gone back to my creations only. It's more satisfying.
By 'creations' I mean photos grabbed from wherever, and if not watermarked, match them to my skewed imagination.
On this one, I found the saying somewhere, then looked for the perfect picture, but most times it's my verbiage too....most times.
Yes, it does look like folks attending a lecture or political gathering of sorts (good eye)...or, folks trying not to pay attention to each other...ahem.
Thanks for the comment, big fella.
It can be lonely here.
Don't worry, Gary. We're all here, even if you can't always hear us! :) Great work.. Or 'play', depending on how you look at it--but still great..
Thank you Earnest T.
I s'pose yer right.
Selfishly, it's a lark for me.
I do get edgy from time to time...so, gotta watch that.
Sir Rick had a valiant effort for quite a while there, and some of you folk have submitted some doozies.
...and peternap...well, he stands alone in the humor dept.
I belong to another site that just does these things. Profound minds they are.
So, yeah, hopefully this is the pleasant distraction it's intended to be.

Rick it is showing OK when I go to it. Might try to go to the link in your E-mail notification and see what happens. Maybe someone else will chime in and let me know if it is OK or not.
Now from here it is showing the standard Photobucket person moved or deleted message.
Ellen is giving me the look. The one that says get out the door or else. :o just been all morning..... SHEEEECCHHH!!! Slave driver

Know the feeling. But usually it is me telling myself to get to work. I went back and reinserted the image so it should be good now. Or at least it is for me. ;)

Me too!
During that time I saw water boil.....once.
Cake
turns out you have to have some things...like yeast, maybe....and know the difference 'tween baking powder and soda (seven up is not baking soda) to make something that resembles cake.
Brownies??! Damn, yer good.
Chocolate rock candy is wunna my specialties....
Things I've learned in the kitchen:
Salt and sugar look alike
There's flour, then there's powdered milk
Hot oil tends to ignite
Blackened bacon does not taste as good as it sounds
You cannot grill the green out of old meat
There is no blue food
What goes up usually stays on the ceiling
Wimin tend to look up rather soon after whatever went up
Doing the dishes does not consist of putting them in the oven
Syrup does not 'make anything taste better'
Molasses and whiskey is not syrup
A block of cream cheese and a bottle of sriracha does not 'the world's best chip dip' make.
27 minutes on the hopper, finally straining out a lone fiery sinister log the length of yer arm, causing you to involuntarily sit straight up while its making it's now unstoppable self-propelled exit, is indisputable testament.
There's other 'keys to cooking' but I can't remember....been a while since I was let near the stove.

100% retired or ????
Yeah....100%
However
I'm beginning to have the understanding that the term 'retired' actually means re-tired....just tired again...in a different way.
I will
get less sleep (because I can...no clock or even whatdayizziss issues)
do whatever I want, whenever I want (clear land, build, toil 24/7)
plague MountainDon with questions at weird hours of the night on solar issues (because, hey, why should he get any rest)
That's ok. :) Stay up all night and send queries. I'll get 'em when I look at the computer, whenever that is. ;D
I am about 75% retired...
just telling how it is [cool]

Smartassing is not something mastered over night...... it must be honed and perfected with age and certain dont care what others think attitude. Signs of being one however usually start at a very early age and bud into some sort of flowering in the teens and twenties. Burst in to fruit thirties to fifties. However the fruit matures to perfection in the sixties and seventies. By the eighties you're just rude and lost your freaking mind......

I actually wore aprons for a few years in my work as a tool maker. I had been promoted to management (big mistake on my part) and was required to wear 'appropriate' clothes. Well, I'm a slob, and couldn't afford to go out and buy enough business casual wear to keep up with my slovenly ways, so I bought aprons. Eventually, the Powers That Be decided that I was spending too much time on the shop floor, and I was banished to desk duty (which I hate!). I only took the management position because A) It was a 25% bump in pay, and B) Unbeknownst to them, I was leaving soon to build the house that I'm currently building!
Man, Mush, that's a career story in a paragraph.
I've got literally 90 days left at the little corporation I've toiled at for 28 years.
Can't say I'll miss it.
But it's been good to me.
Been the ol' man for a while now.
Heh, get to abase the owners at will, and get away with it.
They're all pullin' at me for obscure bits of lore and tribal knowledge.
Little do they know I've forgotten a goodly portion.
Told 'em I'll leave 'em my phone number.
...and phone

That's exactly what we did! We don't have any money left over for vacations, but we don't have to go anywhere.
