Title: Builder's cottage question; please help?
Post by: Billy Bob on September 23, 2005, 07:58:35 PM
O.K., could be I sounded like a smart..s the first time, (who, me?), but I really would like some advice on this.
The Builder's Cottage in the "Big Enchilada" package has an option detail for a raised roof over the loft area.  The detail notes indicate it is best to not apply this raised roof to the whole building.  Why so? Also, don't you have to extend beyond the loft area, as drawn in the base plan, at least  enough to accomodate the stair landing?

The next question is about the foundation. The upgraded plan shows the crawl space with footing and continuous  wall, but the bonus sheets also include the deep pier foundation design.  Is the deep pier foundation O.K. in place of the crawl space for the "beefier" cottage?

Finally, for now ;), the upgraded plan references "TJ1/15 DF 91/2" "for the floor joists.  I'm a fer guessin' those are the engineered "I" joists(?)

Thanks for any help you can give! :-*
