You can check the Notify of Replies button (look at the bottom of the thread just to the right of the Reply button) on any thread you are interested in and it will notify you by email when a response is posted. Clear these notifications with the Notification button at the top control panel for your settings (next to your Profile where you set things like the image and the signature text).
On the bottom, a little further to the right is the Send Topic button. That one allows you to send an email message with a link to the current topic to anyone else, including yourself. It has the thread subject title in the email.
Thus you could send a reminder to yourself if you wanted to look something up later or archive the topic for a later project. You can edit the email message as a reminder if you wish.
