Will a 2 x 10 work spanning the 14 on 16" center? What about 24" center?

Thanks

   There a some variables . . .   Type and grade of lumber, etc . . .

Here is a span calculator that may be of help.

Are we talking floor joists? Ceiling? Rafters?

If floor joists, what is the actual span distance? That is, are the beams under the walls or inset as in how the Little House plans are drawn?  The span distance is the actual distance between the inside edges of the beams. As bayview pointed out there are lots of variables that enter into the answer. Most of the lumber you find is #2, at least around here.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Floor joist...

Using a span calculator helps with this but if you're making the 14x24 to John's plans then the 2x10 will be more then enough.

I will using 8' concrete blocks for a crawl space.

I'd check the span calculator then to be sure -- but also check local codes becuase if you're permitting then you might have to use 2x12's even if the 2x10's are strong enough.

I talked with the building inspector. I can use 15' span with 2 x 10 @16 c. Thanks
