Title: Ever wonder where the term "Goody Two Shoes" came from?
Post by: John Raabe on February 16, 2009, 09:18:51 PM
I found an interesting website that has full copies of out of copyright books.

Here is the home page: http://www.archive.org/index.php. I see that the archive is more than books, it includes a link to the wayback machine which we have mentioned before. I haven't explored the other sections, but click Texts to get the items below.

Here is the PDF version of the 1888 book, Goody Two Shoes: http://ia331341.us.archive.org/3/items/goodytwoshoes00newyiala/goodytwoshoes00newyiala.pdf

Perhaps of more practical interest to CountryPlan members is this search on the keywords, house building:
http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=house%20building%20AND%20collection%3Aamericana

One I enjoyed is "The cheap cottage and small house : a manual of economical building" - Allen, J. Gordon (John Gordon) 1885 scroll down a page or so...
