I just ordered the plans for the little house kit. I want to put on a regular concrete peir foundation, I have tried getting ahold of John but to no luck. I have acess to a machine to dig this weekend and monday, does anyone know the layout for the footings

Thanks Glenn for helping on this. (The plan per Little House) is for 14x24 but you can add an additional bay to the length, just make sure you add an additional pier and that the span on the beam is no longer than shown on the plan. If you are doing drilled concrete piers you can go to a deeper beam spaced further apart (say 6x12 @ 8' o/c) This should be checked with your snow load.
It's generally not a good idea to get ahead of yourself as you will often want to modify something before you go ahead and start the foundation. All the changes above have to be carried by the foundation and each foundation is site specific to some extent.
we have rocky sand clay mix soil i had acess to a small tractor backhoe i du a 15x36 hole about 3 ft deep Found some solid earth dig that test you descrided and it did better then 2500 psi put about 12 inches of clean stone down the line for the footings about 2ft wide going to pour 16" footings and put 8"block and fill them with concrete every 5 ft and g0 with a 2x12 for the beam. Yesterday we poured a a few deck footing . The mud we got was on the tail end of someone else's pour , the mud had been dumped into the pump truck then spit back into the mixer , then sent to our job site . I had added a 1/4 yrd cuz I guessed / figured the other guys might be close figurer in and we'd be short , they where but we weren't ;)
Short load fees eat ya up thats why a 1 3/4 yrd pour is a back ender.
Long storey was the mud was almost water , I had the crew screw the brackets to a straight 2x6 that was longer than the lay out of the pier pads screwed on 44 1/2 " OC , go figure :-/ Butter milk suckin architect :o ::)Not your plan John so no offence Eh ;)
Any way the 2x6 with the perfectly spaced bracket was staked on the high end and leveled to the other end , wallla perfect spaced , in line pier brackets :)
Quick, easy, cool 8-) All because of a small problem , MTL that system will be used in the future when grade allows :)

You are in a bit of a hollow so drainage needs to be insured (unless the soil will do this for you).
