Great story although the reporters impassionate plea at the end had me rolling my eyes...

Elephants are extremely loyal. I thought that story was great. You hear about this stuff all the time with animals. I know of an elephant that was in a circus (which I HATE btw and think is cruel) where an elephant was separated from it's friend for 20 years. They were reunited in another circus 20 years later and IMMEDIATELY recognized each other and resumed a friendship.

Animals in the circus often eventually freak out because they are forced to be slaves and are often treated cruelly. Thankfully things have improved somewhat...still...it's not natural.

Whales will pick a mate for LIFE. If separated in the ocean, they will find each other. They can communicate through thousands of miles.

Respect~

Subject: Wild polar bear VS sled dogs

If you don't already think animals are far more spiritually advanced than we humans, think again.  Stuart Brown describes Norbert Rosing's striking images of a wild polar bear coming upon tethered sled dogs in the wilds of Canada 's Hudson Bay .

The photographer was sure that he was going to see the end of his dogs when the polar bear wandered in.

The Polar Bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs.
