QuoteIt is smooth  8-) No trim , trim is ....

Ya' only need trim when you use a chainsaw.    ;D ;D ;D

When you use a chainsaw, you don't care about trim.  :)

I duknow either it's some new wave / current rock groupie thing , or the ole Texas hookum horns thing  :-/ ;D

BTW that guy in the photo could be the brother(looks wise) of one of the guys who works with me right now.  ;D

I just like the "idea " that we carpenters  SHOULD  be looked at like rock stars , ya know without all the hype and nasty glamour  ;D

I think carpenters should all be like Batgirl.   :o

It would make the workplace more enjoyable, and still shows that can-do problem solving, obstacle overcoming attitude.

No problems, climbing walls, fear of heights, staying on roofs, etc. :)

Few more stair/ deck  details ,

Doesn't that 12" Hardi look lovely  ::) Wavy , bumpy cement brd $$$$hit >:(

Oh well you people seem to like it :'(

Odd deck , roof over head will rest on those 16' Cedar posts , beams hung between , in HUC hangers , hard as heck to get perfect alignment with hangers in a row like that :'(

Diagonal Bracing due to Treks not adding much for racking strength, another man made product I could live without ::)

Stair horses we gottum , 11" OC , 7 ea. another challenge to cut 7 identical jacks and install them 11" apart.  No room for error , or it shows :-[

Anyone need weeds ??

We stomped um down some , well after we ran the weedeater ::)

Heres a year old ZMAX  A35 , see the corrosion the white hairs , gonna be a problem with all this ACQ stuff sooner or later , and it looks sooner to me  :o

I will take no credit for these horses / jacks , the boss cuttum last years  :'( :'( ;D

Heres what the architect drew for the horse to deck connection , it a sort of PITA with the hangers on the end two corners , you have to compensate for them , the metal ,  or the inner jacks / horses will not line up.

It is a good solid way to attach , he didn't have the hangers in his detail,  I added those ;).

Heres the year old Trek treads   and cedar risers , Trek just doesn't look good to me , but TK Cedar is getting so crappy it's almost not useable , Ipe , and Purple heart are getting popular around here.

I don't like the plastic boards either.

As for the Hardy - house next door has it -- caulked ends now have about 3/16 gaps between all of them.

Love the detail shots PEG. Thanks especially for the hanger bracket method on the stair horses. And once again; marvelous collection of horses... I know it's WA code, looks like overkill, but I'd certainly feel secure  treading on those Trex.

Glenn asked me to clear up / answer a few questions , here's the deal , when you get invited to go sailing it suggested you bring a few things ,

The beer on the right is non acholic  for me , I used to drink like a sailor , well I was a sailor so it was expected  ;D

But the pizza was pretty good , I got two can openers which was a really good thing cuz when I opened the package one fell right clean thru the dock boards  , perfect strike  ::) never even touched the sides , nope right friggin thru to the drink thank you  :-[ :'( ;D

We where sailing on Penn cove which is well right in Coupville , Wa.

or is Coupville in / on Penn Cove  :-/

And as a reminder ,

Thank you , thank you very much!!

Might be , Glenn had other ideas  ::) From what I gather from the younger set it means "Rock on!" as in rock and roll music forever, or some such , YMMV  ;D

I'll leave it to Wikipedia to explain.

QuoteRock and Heavy Metal Music

It also has a variety of meanings in heavy metal and is known by a variety of terms: devil sign, devil horns, goat horns, metal horns, metal sign, throwing the goat, evil fingers, Pommesgabel (Pommes = fries, Gabel = fork), mano cornuto, peka evil, the horns, also "Rock Fist" or Rock on "Visel" in some U.S. rock music subcultures.

Huggles

:) Geeze I love this site! I found it yesterday when trying to find info on building a barn style shed ( have a metal one and it's too small and leaks) Now I am sitting here suffering from deck envy...lol. I live in a mobile home ...sniffle sniffle but am making the best of it. Last year I installed double hung GASP!! insulated windows I salvaged from a tear down and built a porch. My porch is not nearly as nice as your deck but it turned out ok for being my first porch. I'm planning to cover the underside of the roof with white salvaged vinyl skirting....I'm such a scavanger..lol check out my porch and let me know what you think.

Huggles

:) hmmmm how do you add more than 1 pic at a time?

PEG688

Looks good huggie , I just keep C&Pasting photo's in , there seems to be no limit on the # of photos you can insert per post as far as I can tell.

glenn kangiser

Deck envy-- I love it. :)

The only difference is that you don't use the insert file at the bottom of the page -- host it on Photobucket first then copy and paste the bottom IMG link here to your message -- there is a section on posting photos in the forum news.
