I just acquired a bit of land am a looking at building the Grandfather Cottage. Before I purchase the plans, I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on how to incorporate a fireplace and a second bathroom, even just a half bathroom into that design. Please and Thank You.

For fireplace do you mean an insert type of fireplace? One of those could be placed in an outside wall by moving changing a window perhaps?
Or increase the length and place in in the interior wall between the 2nd nedroom. Doing that might provide enough space for a half bath ???
I'm sure others may have some ideas.

You might also want to look at the Volks cottage plan that is a bit larger.

The Util room could be a 1/2 bath and the great room could have a fireplace on the right hand wall perhaps with windows on either side.
