Title: Timeline of Great Buildings
Post by: John Raabe on June 24, 2006, 09:28:42 AM
Here is an interesting project. It is a very simple text document with a timeline starting around 3,000 BC and rolling up into the present. Along the way are links to photos and descriptions in the database of "Great Buildings". Most of these are monumental structures built by governments (and later businesses), of course

But, some, are of greater interest to those of us interested in housing.

At any rate... an interesting project. (Be sure to scroll to the right on this list and see how things pile up as we get closer to the present.)

My main disappointment with the timeline is it's all about the ego of architecture and the grand statements of individual projects. I would be much more interested in a timeline of indigenous housing types and how they developed in different parts of the world.

Somebody get on that project, will you?  :D
