Title: Cabin strapping/tye down?
Post by: Hunterscabin on September 05, 2015, 08:53:45 PM
Lets see if I can get my question out and not confuse everyone.
The cabin is going to be 10x 12. With a height of 10 foot walls and a 12:12 roof. Ridge Beam is going to be installed.
Can I use Concrete Deck Blocks w/ 4x4 posts for the base (and now for the real question). I am worried about the wind effect on the cabin's sides.
My thought was to use earth anchors and cable to tie the base down.
Has anyone used this system before?
How many tie downs would you use? And size of cable/strap?
OR?
should I not go down this route and dig the holes in rocky ground?
Man! I so worry about the base
Thanks for any help or suggestions

Well, deck blocks are not legal for supporting a deck much less a building. Your building is 10' wide and over 16' tall, overturning is a valid concern.
