I am going to be helping my brother build an entrance to his house.  It will be a simple shed roof design attached to the outside wall of the house.  My question is how do I flash the intersection of the top of the addition and the wall of the house?  Is there a trim piece that takes care of that?  Also I would like to put down OSB and then attache the steel panels to that.  Does anyone see any issue with this or should there be strapping to create a space?

Where ever the metal was sold should supply the right flashing.  For a shed roof it is no more than a 90 degree piece with about 6" legs or so both directions.  The upper leg should be slipped under your existing siding so that when the water travels down it will fall on top and not behind  d* and continue onto the roofing.  This image does not show real close but I think you can get an idea.

As far as purlins that is a judgement call.  I did not put any on my roof only OSB.  It is acceptable with the manufacturer.

I hope that the house siding is something workable.  If brick or stucco you will have to cut a saw kerf (mason blade) in either the mortar joint or a designated horizontal location for stucco.  Then have a 90 deg break the depth of your kerf to place the short 90 back into and then caulk.
