Albino and Melanistic Wildlife

More rare is what is known as melanism; a melanistic deer... black whitetail from Michigan


and this albino killer whale...

The whale is likely not a true albino as it had a considerable amount of yellowing visible on portions. Near the Aleutians.

I don't have any clear photos, but we had a squirrel in the maple tree in front of our house in WI whose tail was completely white.  The rest of the squirrel was normally pigmented.  The girls named it "Jacob the Naughty Squirrel" because it was so adept at getting into the bird feeders (I don't know why Jacob, unless it was because of a little boy at church by the same name who was quite a rounder.)
