We used the equity from our first build to purchase 26 wooded acres with 900 ft of lake frontage and 2000 ft on an outlet stream. Its mostly well grown woods, including a cedar swamp, but in the center a field that was once used by an organic farm. Its a half mile in on dirt roads and gated off before entering our woods. A majority of the cost was the land. We could have bought cheaper land and had enough to build the house to but we both agree this is our final home and we wanted it to be a perfect spot. We are still cash flowing the rest of the build but every sacrifice has been worth it.

It was sarting last Aug we built in the field surrounded by trees with a path to the lake and stream so our home is completely private. We re framing in the valleys on the roof now, then two dormers and we can start sheathing. Its a bigger build with a 30 degree gable end prowl off the front, but still off grid and we own it debt free. Its gone up quickly and we hope to be in by March, Yah willing.

We re planning to share pics of the new house on our blog soon.

We posted a few recent pic of the house. Since these were taken we finished the valleys on either side of the front gable and started framing the dormers. Budgeted to have sheathing and weather guard purchased in two weeks which worked out well, we should be ready to start sheathing around that time. (Goose works at a local wood mill that makes engineered lumber so we get sheathing for $7-8 a sheet, a Blessing as the cost at the local hardware store is much higher.)

Income tax return will cover our shingles, insulation, interior vmatch, and stove pipe for the pioneer princess cook stove. The cook stove and most of the windows are already paid for.

The outhouse and greywater we installed last spring along having the well drilled (35 gallons/min). All that's left for plumbing is to install a hand pump in the house, a tub in the bathroom and connect the drains to the grey water once the ground thaws.

Its been a much faster build than our first even though its significantly bigger.. We've worked hard to get it done quickly. Goose has done all the building himself working with utility grade logs (no kit) and a design we piecemealed together from a few log home pics we liked. Not an easy task but he's done an amazing job..

Cabin looks great. However, the background on your website makes it hard to read.
