Here is the Ladder Stair topic that I inadvertently deleted awhile ago. Stupid  d*

Here's a couple of versions of the thread that were saved using SnagIt.

• The PDF file below you can click to open, it should have live links but you may need to enlarge it to be readable (try 200% or maybe 250%).

http://www.countryplans.com/Downloads/ladder-thread.pdf

• Here's a more full featured view of the page but you have to download this file (save as) to your desktop and run it as a program (double click):

http://countryplans.com/Downloads/ladder-thread.mht.

• And here's the trip to Mexico thread that branched off of this:

I have the pictures of it that I saved.  This was done using Gadwin Printscreen -- recommended to me by Daddymem.

Johns thing worked for me; save to desktop, double-click on the result and wham-o it opened up. Nice picture tho' Glenn.  ;D

When I did that It opened a great big page of MIME code -- letters and numbers etc.   Sassy's did the same.

Strange goings on... I got the mime codes when I first ignored Johns directions and did a right click, open in new tab. So I then saved it to desktop as John indicated. Got a file named "ladder-thread.mht". Never heard of mht files? But I blindly double clicked it and it popped open in Firefox (default browser). Just now I did a right click, open in MSIE command and it opened okay as well.   ???

What is an mht anyway?

When I left clicked on the mht file link in the browser I get only code. When I right click and download - then open, I get the full blown page with live links.

Let me try to right click open as... nope. Just the code.

When I open the pdf file I can adjust the magnification and it looks pretty good. I went up to 250% (typed it in) and it's easier to read than our standard page. Links work too.

This from the SnagIt site:

MHT - Web Page with Image
MHT is similar to an HTML Web page, except that the HTML and images are combined into a single file. MHT is useful for quickly sharing an image along with simple links/hotspots with just one file and is most useful in e-mail, where the Web page, complete with images, is inserted directly into the body of the e-mail in Outlook and Outlook Express.

Snagit can start at the top of a web page, scroll down to the the bottom and then save the whole thing in one file you can save, open or send to someone else. While as sharp as the original HTML page, the MHT file is about 80% larger than the same page saved as a PDF (which SnagIt can do as well).

I dl'd it then clicked - it opened my Firefox browser and was MIME again.  Tried it all -- must be doing something wrong.

That's strange Glenn:

I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.11 and when I save to the desktop it opens the little download window as the mht file comes in. After a few seconds it is done and I click open and see the full thread.

No matter how you read those 3 words, it's true.

Must have been some kind of internet problem that corrupted the file at that time.  I did the same thing this time -- resaved it as the same name and it and opened fine on double clicking.  NO problem-- nevermind. :)

Links worked also.

...and thank you Don, but to us of the sophisticated type, the word is "eccentric."

Crimoney, Don.  You must have had to work overtime to find that. [crz]

Now I suppose I have to say the preferred and politically correct word is eccentric.

You know how fragile my makeup is. hmm

One Google [define eccentric], 4 quick right-clicks into new tabs on the first 4 results, a quick look at each until the third one showed me what I wanted.... maybe a minute, two tops.

;D ;D

I'll try to behave myself.

Dang -- you even went and kept track of the numbers on it. [crz]

Grin, geez what a mess I caused!

SO John, is it possible to send the plans of the ladder that maybe both of us have now lost?

fritz (dot) nordengren (at) gmail (dot) com

thanks for the help

John Raabe

Ah yes, the elusive initial topic question. :D :D

I have scanned the drawing I have (it is on the big plan sheet that comes with the Enchilada set) and will send it in an email.
