Hello!
I'm new tothis forum but not new to restoring log cabins. I'm in the process of restoring a 1820's log cabin. We've numbered it, torn it down and now putting it back up. My husband and I restored a 1830's and 1896 log house 20 years ago. The 1820's cabin we are working on now was set to be burned to the ground by the state of Virginia to make way for a new road expansion.

To catch you up to speed on our project and the highs and lows and the craziness, I'll insert my blog site here. http://oldlogcabinrevival.blogspot.com/

Once I figure out how to attach pictures to this site, I can update with pictures as we go through this process. (I don't have attachments as an additional option - so I'll have to figure something out!).  I have lots of questions about everything from mini split HVAC systems to ventless logs. As I go through the process, I'm hoping you can offer some options. I say "I' because I'm the GC on this project and the "go to girl" for just about everything.

Hope to hear from you soon.

w* Nora Belle!  Just read through your blog - wow, lots of work!  Your home looks wonderful & am looking forward to seeing your progress on the addition.  We post pictures on Photobucket - there's a tutorial somewhere but Photobucket has been updated & is even easier to use.  We like LOTS of pictures!

Have you seen Redoverfarm's log cabin?  It's really beautiful - he did a dogtrot - which looks like what you are doing - putting 2 cabins together & having an addition between to connect them.

Hi, Yes, I did see the redover cabin, it was the inspiration to come to this forum. We've chatted several times about the joys of building a log cabin from the ground up. Our cabin is attached to two other cabins. One is an 1830's and a 1896. Thanks for the link, I need to brush up on photobucket. I'll be sure to include lots of pictures. I take about 12 or more a day.
Thanks,
