Hi all, when my slab was poured (20x40), 20x30 of it was poured for a garage. The first 10 feet is level for a entryway, then it slopes toward the garage door opening.
I have 2' tall web trusses for spanning over the garage area (20x30). Because the way the slab is formed, walls that should be 30' long are 30' 3" and my trusses are built for 2' centers. Any ideas how I can. Overcome this 3"?
Thanks
Todd

It doesn't take too much to gain 3" . I don't think it is crucial for the trusses to be exactly on 24"OC or structurally unsafe.    Might have to fudge your placement by offseting the trusses to make up the difference.  If I understand you correctly you will frame the entry and truss the garage.  Might make up the difference on that area too or partly both.  As for drywall you can scab onto what you move to bring it in line with your sheetgoods.  Just try to make the adjustment in one area though and not several different ones or you will be playing chase all over your ceiling.  Just a thought.

Whats the verdict on your floor length where it meets the house? Inquiring minds would like to know.  ;)

If it is any comfort they could have made it too narrow(depth) to where the trusses would not have met the wall.   d* c*

I agree where you are only talking setting them over a half inch or so.  That happens all the time anyway.  That or order another truss from the plant.  But I would be more prone to live on the wild side and let them run a little wild.

Thanks Guys!
the floor trusses are a full 2x4 top flatwise, so I can make it work by moving the a bit.
Thanks for the advice!

Todd just remember that by moving the first and then subsequent ones the same distance will not change anything at the other end except the intial distance gained of the first.  Several will have to be moved that initial distance and then that much more to gain ground.

Todd I wish to post a disclaimer for both John and I.  If you house falls in over letting those trusses run a little wild those three inches.  We do not have a clue what you are talking about and we did not post that malicious advice.... ;)  Neither he nor I are very competent in much of anything...

Rick speak for yourself.  I always know what I am talking about.  Others just have trouble thinking the same as me.  ;D

But thanks for the disclaimer. ;)
